DAY 1 LIMA Reception at the Lima airport and transfer to the hotel located in Miraflores. Afterwards you'll have the rest of the day to relax and explore the city. Night at your hotel. DAY 2 PUERTO MALDONADO (B,L,D) After breakfast the transportation will pick you up from your hotel in Lima and transfer you to the airport to board your flight to Pto. Maldonado (airfare not included). Reception at the airport and transportation to the WASAI Maldonado Lodge, where you will be served a welcome tropical fruit beverage. Then you will be set for a 3 to 4 hour trip in a motorboat up the Tambopata River to WASAI Tambopata Lodge & Research Center (box lunch on route). During the trip we will be able to observe the local farms, while groups of birds pass over the boat. Reception and accommodation at the lodge, lunch after a short rest we will have a brief introduction walk in the nearby forest to learn basic principles on ecology and hear some wildlife natural history. Return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner we'll make our first visit to the forest to observe the nocturnal life of insects, frogs of various colors, and an occasional encounter with nocturnal mammals. Overnight at Wasai Tambopata Lodge. DAY 3 MACAW CLAY COLLPA (B,L,D) Early wake up (5 a.m.) and travel up the Tambopata River for an hour and half to the Bahuaja - Sonene National Park. You will see a magical sunrise and it is a great opportunity to see animals such as capybaras, tapirs , Jaguars, and deers in the surrounding virgin forest. We'll have a hot drink and a snack while watching birds and go for a short walk to look for animals such as monkeys. We'll return to the lodge to have a late breakfast, and rest. After lunch we will enter the green jungle on a special trail to observe wild life. We will then enter the territory of peccaries, deers, and others, with the possibility to hear or see their tracks, discovering a troop of monkeys traveling through the forest in search for food. Time permitting, we will be able to enjoy a relaxing swim in the cascade of the cat. After dinner we can make another trip through the jungle. Overnight. DAY 4 LAKE SANDOVAL (B, L, D) After breakfast we'll make a trip on a boat to the WASAI Maldonado Lodge, in Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our bungalows and enjoy a tasty lunch. After lunch we will leave and make a twenty minutes trip on the Madre de Dios River, towards the access trail to Lake Sandoval, a beautiful typical rainforest oxbow lake. 5 kms hike to the lake shore. Prepare yourself for a spectacular sunset. It is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado. We will stay in the modern and comfortable bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Lodge. After dinner we'ill be able to rest or wander around the city on foot or on bicycle. Overnight. DAY 5 CUSCO ( B ) Breakfast and transfer to the airport where we'll board the flight to Cusco (airfare not included). Upon arrival our transfer will welcome and transfer you to your hotel. At 2:00 pm you'll start the city tour, This tour includes the major sites of historical interest in Cuzco, you will visit the following sites: Cathedral, the Temple of Qoricancha, and the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. This tour will let you learn about the Inca culture as well as some aspects about the conquest of the Inca’s Empire and the colonial era. The tour will end around 18:00hrs. you wil be broughtl back to your hotel. Night at your hotel. DAY 6 INCA TRAIL HIKE TO MACHU PICCHU (4 days 3 nights) (B+L+D) Early in the morning we'll pick up you from your hotel to start the inca trail escorted by native "quechua" porters going through semi-arid terrain along the Urubamba river with magnificent views of the snow capped Veronica, later on going through Llactapata an ancient Inca citadel that protected the entry to two valleys. DAY 7 INCA TRAIL (B+L+D) Breakfast first, then you'll start the trek. Today the first part of the trek takes us to the Inca Hamlet of Huayabamba. Later, we will hike through Warmiwañuska pass (4200 mts), known as the "dead woman's pass". This is the most difficult part. Finally you will arrive to wayllabamba campsite where you will have dinner. DAY 8 INCA TRAIL (B+L+D) After breakfast starts the descent towards the second most important pass of the trail at 3,850 m.a.s.l. having a guided visit to the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca. Continue trekking towards Phuyu Patamarka (Cloud-level town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch will be served. After a short break you will continue walking to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young) for a guided visit to this impressive archaeological complex with an spectacular setting. Dinner and overnight at the camp. DAY 9 MACHU PICCHU (B) After breakfast in the hotel, we'll have a very early start to arrive in time for sunrise at Machu Picchu. After a one hour walk through the forest towards the Inti Punku or the Sun Gate we'll arrive to Machu Picchu, you will visit Machu Picchu for 2 hours approximately with the guide, after that you will have free time to explore the "Lost City of the Incas" for yourself. Overnight at hotel in Aguas Calientes village. DAY 10 MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B) This morning is free for you to visit the hot springs, explore the surroundings of Agua Calientes or shop at the local markets. Alternatively you may wish to revisit Machu Picchu, although only one entrance ticket and return bus ticket is included in the tour price. Upon arrival to the Ollantaytambo train station, transportation to your hotel in Cusco will be provided. Night at your hotel. DAY 11 TRANSFER OUT ( B ) Transportation to the airport for your flight check in to Lima (airfare not included) in time to get your international flight. End of the services.
